An Sweet Introduction

Hey Sweeties,

I thought I’d start my first post off with a wee introduction about my life and me so far.

So here it goes...

Fashion and Baking (cooking in general) have always been my two passions in life. They're the two things I’ve always managed to do due despite being diagnosed with Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva or F.O.P at the age of 3 years old. FOP is a rare condition where bone forms in muscles and other soft tissue in the body creating a second skeleton. Hopefully, in the next few years a cure will be discovered, currently there are 700 confirmed cases of FOP worldwide.

My condition is a part of me but I’ll never let it define who I am, because it makes me unique. I think you should never judge a book by its cover, as underneath we are all the same.
I have always loved fashion from a young age and I was taught by my glamorous grandmother to use fashion as a way to express myself and put an instant smile on my face. Whether it’s a beautiful dress or a vintage cocktail ring - In the words of Coco Chanel “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”
I’ve been given an amazing opportunity this week... I’m off to LFW (London Fashion Week for the none fashionistas) with my beautiful mamma, Ciona, and sister, Sam, next weekend. LFW is somewhere I’ve always dreamed of going to and my dream has finally come true. But now the major panic of planning outfits and making around 100 lists (I love a good list) has begun!!!

You should check out Sam's Blog

Cooking is in my blood as most of my Mamma’s side of the family are either great foodies, cooks or bakers; and thankfully it’s something that comes easily to me - whether it be Lobster Thermidor or Crème Brule Cupcakes. I love how cooking someone’s favourite dish can instantly make them feel better, or put a smile on their face.
My maternal grandparents were great entertainers, throwing 2 to 3 dinner parties a week for everyone from their best friends, to The Ambassador of the Seychelles. The dinner table was always beautifully set, usually with mountains of seafood due to the fact they owned a shell fish factory. Growing up at my mother and grandmothers side watching them cooking has made me appreciate great quality food and enabled me to cook from scratch.
I have never been afraid to try any food once, as they say you can’t knock it until you try it!
